Enoc Perez

Enoc Perez is a contemporary artist known for his vibrant, layered paintings that explore themes of modernist architecture, nostalgia, and cultural identity. His signature technique, influenced by printmaking, involves multiple layers of pigment transfer, creating a tactile and evocative surface. Perez studied at Pratt Institute (BFA, 1990) and Hunter College (MFA, 1992) in New York and has since established himself as a significant figure in contemporary painting. His work has been the subject of major solo exhibitions worldwide, including ‘Liberty & Restraint’ at Dallas Contemporary (2018), ‘Las Islas del Encanto’ at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (2022), and ‘The Cinematic Self’ at Ben Brown Fine Arts, London (2019). His ongoing dialogue with architecture is evident in projects such as ‘One World Trade Center’ at Peter Blum Gallery (2015) and his exhibitions at the Philip Johnson Glass House (2015). His paintings and drawings have been included in prestigious group exhibitions such as ‘Dear Painter, Paint Me…’ at Centre Pompidou, Paris (2002), ‘Caribbean: Crossroads of the World’ at the Studio Museum in Harlem (2012), and ‘Duro Olowu: Seeing Chicago’ at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (2020).
