Petra Collins

Petra Collins is an internationally renowned photographer, filmmaker, and artist whose dreamy, ethereal aesthetic has reshaped contemporary visual culture. Blurring the lines between fine art, fashion, and pop culture, her work explores themes of femininity, self-perception, and the complexities of youth through a deeply personal and cinematic lens. Rising to prominence in the early 2010s, Collins quickly became a defining voice of her generation, shooting editorial work for Vogue, Vanity Fair, Dazed, i-D, Garage, and The New York Times. She has photographed some of the most influential figures in music, fashion, and entertainment, including Frank Ocean, Kim Kardashian, Zendaya, Cardi B, and Selena Gomez, crafting intimate and visually rich portraits that challenge conventional beauty narratives. Her impact extends into the world of high fashion, where she has collaborated with some of the industry’s most prestigious brands. She has shot campaigns for Gucci, Balenciaga, Dior, Valentino, Fendi, Calvin Klein, and Miu Miu, bringing her signature soft-focus, dreamlike aesthetic to global luxury houses. Her longstanding creative partnership with Alessandro Michele’s Gucci resulted in some of the brand’s most visually striking campaigns and short films. Beyond photography, Collins has made a mark in fine art, with exhibitions at institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum, The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto, and Galerie Ropac in Paris. Her 2021 monograph, Fairy Tales, further cemented her status as a multidisciplinary artist, weaving together photography, narrative, and mythological themes. Collins has also ventured into commercial directing, recently collaborating with Nike on a campaign that fused sports imagery with her signature surrealist style. In addition, she has directed music videos, including Selena Gomez’s “Fetish”, and continues to develop narrative film projects that expand her artistic reach. A defining creative force, Petra Collins continues to shape contemporary visual culture, bridging the worlds of fine art, fashion, and film with a perspective that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
